Interstate 94 Paving: Phase 1
Interstate 94 between Saint Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota is the state's
second busiest stretch of road and was in need of a new driving surface.
To minimize the impact on commuters, 4 full weekend highway closures
were done to allow the resurfacing of the driving lanes, reconstruction of
the shoulders, improvements to the drainage and lighting and bridge
repair. Hardrives and Midwest Asphalt were contracted to complete the
12 mile long Phase 1, between Highway 280 and Interstate 35E.
The $45 million project will be completed in 2 phases. Phase 1, from
Highway 280 to the east, will be completed in 2010 with Phase 2, from
Highway 280 to the west, being scheduled for 2011.
